2023 Washington Behavioral Health Champions

Their hard work comes at a time when our state’s residents need access to support and behavioral health more than ever.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Washington is recognizing 13 state lawmakers for their impactful work to advance behavioral health in Washington state during the 2023 legislative session.

The following state lawmakers are recognized as behavioral health champions for their outstanding work in critical behavioral health issues such as laying the groundwork for the 988 crisis line, mobile crisis response and behavioral health crisis centers, addressing the behavioral health workforce shortage, increasing access to services especially for marginalized  and rural communities, decriminalizing mental health, advancing equity in health care, protecting the mental well-being of youth especially BIPOC and LGBTQ youth, and advocating for historic investments in behavioral health services. A huge thank you to our 2023 Behavioral Health Champions!
